Fun fact: we saw snow going up hill as it blew up the mountain

Today was our second day in Namche and our first to acclimatize to altitude. We acclimatize by ‘hiking high and sleeping low’ to help build up red blood cells. Our hike was up to the Everest View Hotel at 3,880 meters. Unfortunately it was snowing while we had tea and hot chocolate and were not able to get our first view of Mt. Everest. After a break we hiked back down to Namche in a light snow shower where the winds blowing up the mountain made the snow look like it was snowing up and not down.

We had a light lunch of vegetables, homemade bread, pasta and potato rolls. After lunch the team had the afternoon as free time to shop in Namche, relax at the tea house or venture out to photo the amazing scenery that surrounds us.

We have gathered back at the tea house to warm up by the warm stove and soon will be having another delicious home cooked meal.
